Background:

 

Huw has nearly 15 years experience of working at major tournaments on both
the ATP and WTA tours. In 2024, Huw was appointed UK Team Manager
for the official UK Dunlop Stringing Service, along with Paul Skipp
(Head Stringer at Wimbledon). This covers all official LTA tournaments in
the UK across the year.

​​​Managing the Team requires sourcing highly skilled and qualified
Technicians to form Teams to service these events from Glasgow Challengers
all the way up to the major grass court events at Queen's and Eastbourne.

​

All members of the Team have to sit the 'DTC' (Dunlop Tour Certification)
to enable them to work at official LTA tournaments. This certification was
conceptualised by Huw and Paul based on their years of experience running
the UK divisions of the ERSA and more recently the GRSA.

 

This certification is also fully endorsed by Dunlop, the official racket partner
of the LTA. It ensures that every member of the UK Stringing Team can string
at the highest level, as well as provide a consistent level of excellence at every tournament they work with.

Along with ensuring the highest level of stringing acumen, the DTC certification also provides assurances that Members of the UK Team will provide the following skill sets at a tournament:

​

• professional electronic stringing machines and diagnostic tools. The equipment used will be regularly tested and calibrated before and during all tournaments to ensure consistency of service. The machines will also be regularly maintained and serviced to ensure optimum performance.

• all Members of the Team will be a minimum of GRSA or ERSA qualified Master Professional Stringers prior to sitting the DTC. Many of the Team will have already strung at all levels of competition including Grand Slams, ATP/WTA, Davis Cup and BJK Cup as well as Laver Cup.

• all Members of the Team will be able to provide Players, Coaches and Parents expertise and knowledgeable advice on strings, tensions, grips and other customisable aspects of their frames.

• all Members of the Team will be highly proficient in using tournament software (we use JVC Stringer https://jvcstringer.com). This software is used to manage all player restring information. This allows player string information to be shared from one Dunlop tournament to the next. This is the same software used at Wimbledon.​
